Lead Applications Designer Hove 6 Month Contract Lead Applications Designer– Job Description We are embarking on a large, complex transformation programme to migrate aging, legacy mainframe applications to modern technology and also to migrate the complex, monolith Java enterprise application to service based application. This programme will follow agile delivery method with remote working model collaborating with offshore development teams. We are looking for experienced Java enterprise professionals with leadership skills to mentor, influence and lead the technology transformation. Job overview: • Coordinate between multiple disciplines (Architects, Business Analysts, Project Managers, Customers) developers to design, develop, implement and support complex business solutions. • Oversee technical deliverables, including validating the completeness of estimates, quality and accuracy of technical designs, build and implementation • Leads the design, development and implementation of complex applications, often using new technologies. • Proactively address technical issues and risks that could impact project schedule and/or integrity of the application environment. • Work closely with stakeholders to design and document solutions that align with the business needs and also consistent with the architectural vision. • Mentor and train project team members (including Sourcing Partners) to enforce development guidelines and best practices • Need to provide technical direction and solution architecture for individual initiatives. Job Requirement: • Java midrange development experience. Prefer overall 12+ years of IT experience with 4+ years of technical lead developer experience • Strong Java, midrange development skills (JAVA, J2EE, STRUTS, SPRINGS, WebSphere, web services, Eclipse, RAD, Hibernate, MQ etc.) • Expert problem solver and able to effectively communicate with business, technical persons, and senior management. • Good understanding of third party dependency management. • Experience with Implementation and release management activities. • Good understanding of the enterprise application deployment architecture. • Expert in translating business requirements into an application solution/design that includes Data Model, Web Screens, Web Services, and batch processing. • Experience working in large transaction based systems Desired Skills: • Bachelors’ degree in Computer or Equivalent professional experience • Good Insurance domain knowledge • Strong Communication and good leadership skills • Experience in performance optimizations such as improving scalability, availability, throughput, failover, etc. • Ability to foster strong collaboration among team members and multitask effectively • Investigate and recommend best practices and improvements for the build system. • Technology professional with experience in designing and managing the implementation of future looking, flexible and reusable, enterprise applications and components.
